The salient points
Bananarama basically invented the idea of the modern British girlband. They broke and set all sorts of records.
As with all amazing British girl trios, one of them was called Siobhan.
The other two were called Sara and Keren.
It all went a bit wrong for a while when Siobhan left and Meryl Streep joined the band but it was acceptable, as they say, in the 80s. (LoveBananarama doesn't agree, but we do love the Meryl reference as both she and Jac's are fabulous)
Their best songs include 'I Heard A Rumour', 'Robert De Niro's Waiting', 'I Want You Back' and 'Cruel Summer'.
Ace Of Base covered 'Cruel Summer', with 'limited success' (it wasn't very good).
'The Rams' are now just Sara and Keren and are getting along jolly well as it happens. They tend to pop up at outdoor summer events, 'gentlemen's nitespots' and on funny TV programmes.
If you interview them they are 'quite a hoot'.
